My favorite tradition is having my daughters come home from their Grandma's with my ex husband and spend the night so we all can wake up Christmas morning to open gifts!

I know this is hardly original, but as I've gotten older I really love Christmas Eve when my family will watch some film from our (my) first Christmases. It's awesome to see my sister and I at 3 and 5 years old on Christmas morning on the tapes at night, then in the morning still be able to totally recognize all the things that haven't changed. (And my crazy mom's still films every one, so it's likely we'll be able to do this forever.)

The making of the infamous christmas punch. Your favorite summer attire then outdoors for a frigid game of frisbee. The secret to an awesome game of bee, punch consumption. If you miss or make a bad throw you have to chug a mug of punch. Makes for an interesting game and 9 times out of 10 quite hilarious. I hope there is a little more snow this year. Softer landings

Since both our parents are dead, my sister and I try to have a Christmas together with as many of our kids as possible.

When they were alive, after a large family dinner, Mom, my sister and I would gather round the fireplace and have wine. We would reminisce about childhood etc. Our kids loved listening to stories about our childhood and their Granny's. As the wine bottle got emptier, the stories got funnier.

We try to keep this tradition alive and the kids, now grown, still expect a fireside wine drinking.

My favorite tradition is just being woken up on Christmas morning by my kids yelling about all of the presents under the tree, and it's time to open them. We never put out ANY presents until after all of the kids are asleep Christmas Eve night. I usually have some project for us to do before they go to bed. Baking cookies, making a gingerbread house, putting out reindeer food and cookies for Santa, etc. I love seeing their anticipation for Christmas morning!

I love it when the kids show up for some dinner. I miss them so much everyday. I like sitting at the table and everyone sharing what they are most grateful for in their lives. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Icon_syda Icon_syda Icon_syda Icon_syda Icon_syda Smilielove Smilielove Icon_syda Icon_syda

My children and I decided a few years ago not to exchange gifts since they are all adults now and things aren't as affordable as they used to be. So I go to midnight Mass on Christmas eve which is always so joyous. On Christmas morning I cook dinner and they both come over and we have a wonderful time eating and reminising about the Christmases past when they were children. We remember those family members, their dad, sister, grandparents, aunts and uncles who are no longer with us and just enjoy each other and feel so blessed to be able to spend time together. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and and Peace on Earth.
