Don't click them, just post which you choose here.
Example: I choose A.

I will pick B Please. My son is an ex-navy doc. I might not sound very patriotic saying this but I do truly Thank God every day that he is home providing for his wife and three children, instead of risking his life every day for his country. He was in Sierra Leone when the gorillas breached the inner wall of the U.S. embassy. It marked him for life, in ways that I can only speculate about. He, being a navy doc, and the man he is, was often out side the compound wall (against military rule) trying to care for the millions of refugees camped there, one at a time. Occassionally he tells a tale that will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck about the things that he saw and did on a daily basis. I am very proud of him for going out side the wall to treat the people there, friend, and foe.
I thank God for the bravery of our women and men in uniform, regardless of where they may be serving, always, always it is the most selfless act that one can preform in the service of their country.
Tom felt relatively safe behind the compound walls, right up untill his best friend was shot out from under his arm.
Things can and do change in an instant for our soldiers and the soldiers of our allies, and dare I say it- the soldiers of our enemys, be they Japanese, vietnamese, of arab decent, or foaming at the mouth raving lunatic gorillas in a country on the other side of the world.
Please don't misunderstand me- in a situation of kill or be killed, one does what comes naturally to our species. I must admit however that I bleed for the senseles death of all the soldiers down through the years, including the war we are involved in now. Even the enemy has a mother, a brother, a loved one somewhere. I just plain hate that men and women die in wars. I hate the foolishness of war. I honestly believe that if women had been in charge from the start the world would be a very different place.
So I admit that on memorial day I offer up my regrets for the loss of all the lives, of all the soldiers.
Well y'all think I'm just nuts now, don't you? Well, I am ok with that!!

Memorial Day
by Michelle R. Christman
As we stand here looking
At the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent
A few of the true American brave
They fought for their Country
As man has through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here
Fought for your country and mine
As we all are gathered here
To pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others
It's what they would expect
I'm sure that they would do it
If it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein
But for the red, white and blue.
Let's pass on to our children
And to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for
It's the least we can do
Let's not forget their families
Great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband
They need to know we still care
No matter which war was fought
On the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags
Filled with American pride.
So as the bugler plays out Taps
With its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here
In this sacred, hallowed ground.
Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

irishgilly2, I do not think you are nuts.
I often wonder what difference a woman running the world would make.
Unfortunately, that very difference is the reason we do not run the world.
Women do not thirst for power and therefore to not often seek it.
Remembering the conflicts like Sierra Leone and the current election
crisis in Zimbabwe truly makes me appeciate living in America.
We take so many things for granted. We are so lucky.
Look at a few headlines from the world and then think
of our "economic" troubles.... Are we really so bad off?
"Aid workers snatched in Somalia"
"'Witches' burnt to death in Kenya"
"Ethiopian millions 'risk hunger' "
"Burma 'still uses child soldiers'"
Without our vetrans, our way of life would not exist. Thanks to all
vetrans and current military, and to their families.

Yes we must always remember them!
It is hard to know the right path in Iraq.
But, Whatever that path is and how we feel about it,
does not change our appeciation for the current soldiers
serving their country. Thanks them and their familes!
