Coming Soon This is a busy time of the year for online poker. The World Series of Poker is right around the corner and that means that thousands of amateur poker players are trying to win their seat in the Main Event through online play.
Many of the top online poker rooms offer free tournaments that will conclude with one player winning a free seat to the Main Event. That is good news for all of the players that cannot afford the $10,000 entry fee.
The real winners, however, over the next few months could be the online casinos. Any of the poker rooms that offer other casino games will benefit greatly from the increased traffic to their site.
"The WSOP seat giveaways is one of the biggest draws of the year for online poker sites," said observer Daniel Friedgen, "the players who lose in these tournament are more likely to wonder away from the poker tables and into the slots or blackjack areas of the sites."
The online casino industry is already big business, having turned into a billion dollar industry. The prospects are even greater in the future with several countries, including the US, contemplating changing their online gambling laws.
The US would be the biggest prize for online casinos. It is estimated that the majority of the action at online casinos comes from US residents.
