National Football League Notable Matchups 9/23-9/24 By: Chris Watford for NoLuckNeeded.com
It’s official: the Browns have finally won a game. They’re no longer on a two-year losing streak and they’ve got their eyes set on the Super Bowl now. Well, that last part is a bit of a stretch, but dozens of Browns fans around the world are rejoicing. With the bizzarity of the Browns winning and Ryan Fitzpatrick playing like a superstar, let’s take a look at this weekend’s notable matchups.
New Orleans Saints (+2.5) @ Atlanta Falcons (-2.5) 9/23 Sunday at 1:00 PM ET on FOX.
An incredibly important matchup in the NFC South that could shape the outcome of playoff standings in months to come. The Falcons are still hobbling their way into each and every game while missing key player Keanu Neal, alongside Deion Jones, Andy Levitre and Julio Jones skipped Wednesday's practice with a calf injury. The Saints have been up and down in the first two weeks of this season, with a loss against the Bucs and they squeaked away with a win against the Browns last week. The Saints are going to want to capitalize against an injured Falcons team this Sunday at 1:00 PM ET on FOX.
Los Angeles Chargers (+7) @ Los Angeles Rams (-7) 9/23 Sunday at 4:05 PM ET on CBS
The Chargers have their eye on one player going into this game: Todd Gurley. Gurley was named the 2017 NFL offensive player of the year and he has continued that success into the 2018 season, with three touchdowns and two two-point conversions in last week’s game. The Chargers are going to be missing an important piece this Sunday with Joey Bosa being officially ruled out. Watch this game this Sunday at 4:05 PM ET on CBS.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-1.5) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1.5) 9/24 Monday on ESPN at 8:15 PM ET
This Monday night football game is sure to be an exciting one. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been a man on a mission, breaking records and dominating the league while leading his team to a 2-0 record. The Steelers however, are on the outside looking in - yet to win a game. Pittsburgh is going to have their work cut out for them this Monday with Fitz playing the way he’s been and they’re also in desperate need of fixing their awful defense that they’ve had the past two weeks. See if the Steelers can string together their first win of the season against the Bucs this Monday on ESPN at 8:15 PM ET.
