I play video poker at Intertops and the one thing I don't like about them is they will play fairly well to start with and then it seems they just take you to the bottom very quickly. Doubt if it is controlled with RNG. Sometimes play 20 or more hands with no hits.

frankie69, I play a lot of video poker at intertops and other places. Sometimes I lose and sometimes I win, but a few months ago I hit 3 royal flushes in 10 days there and cashed out almost $3000. I think they are similar in payouts to others including land casinos. I play there several times a week and tend to win on video poker then lose it on slots.

What games do you play. Double double bonus is probably the best (at any casino) to make big scores, but dueces wild will allow you to play longer although you probably won't hit big. Also, never play less than max bet for the denomination.

I think it is the nature of most games I have ever played to hit and then go cold, so try moving around to different games if one goes dead. That's what I do in both land casinos and online. If I win say $50 on 1 game, I will usually decide to play $5 or $10 back and if it does not hit, I move.

Also, are you playing perfect video poker? Most people don't know the various games, as the play differs for each one. I used a program, a video poker tutor to learn perfect play many years ago. Probably 90% of people make huge mistakes in VP and reduce their winning odds significantly, so maybe look into the tutor unless you really know what you are doing. Smile

I normally play Bonus Poker, Double Jackpot Poker and sometimes Double Double Bonus. Of course, being an ol retired goat on a fixed income I only do about $100 or so per month. Still like playing Intertops tho. Thanks

I also have won several thousand dollars playing video poker. I usually start out playing lower bets; then if I am winning I will go to higher bets to hopefully win big. The thing that bothers me is that some RTG casinos change thier pay tables to lower amounts; especially on more than one hand poker. One of these days I am going to ask them why they do this. Anybody know why? Rolling Eyes Anyway, good luck to all the poker players out there! Get them ROYAL FLUSHES! Cool

jslotter71, Yeah, that pisses me off too. I noticed the pays at slotastic are lower on multihand. It makes no sense to me. Another reason I like intertops, because their payouts are the same.

TDTAT, that sounds interesting. IS there a better edge on video poker compared to online hold em?

hong kong, When I said pays I meant the set schedule for what a hand pays. For instance... in double double bonus, quad aces without a kicker usually pays 800 credits. At some online casinos it lowers to 750 if you play multihand as opposed to single hand. The pays at intertops and most online casinos are the same that you will find in most vegas casinos. It is an old gambler's secret though that the pays vary in land casinos too. One machine may pay 45 for a full house and the machine next to it pay 40 in the same game. I always check pay SCHEDULE in video poker before I start playing anywhere.

However, at my local Hardrock Seminole land casino, the pays are absolutely ridiculous... not even close to online or vegas. So instead of a fullhouse paying 45 credits, it is like 30. Shocked

As far as the payouts RATE, that is just impossible to know. Some places in vegas will say 98% payback, but usless they say for all machines in the group, only one has to have the 98% payback as per gambling commission rules.

Generally the big casinos on the strip in vegas have a worse payout rate than online, or the smaller casinos off the strip or downtown. I like video poker at the palms in las vegas, that's where I usually play video poker in las vegas.

So if you are a smart gambler in vegas and you want the most for your gambling money and the highest payout odds, stay in the nice casinos on the strip if you want, but don't gamble there much. Go the the "local casinos" off the strip and the payouts will generally be better.

A funny thing is, I never play slots in land casinos. I think the payouts online are much better because I never get any play at all on slots in land casinos. I only play video poker in land casinos. Online I usually play both slots and video poker.

EDIT: Now I read your question again and you mention holdem. If you mean texas holdem, that is totally different than video poker. In video poker you are playing against the casino. In texas holdem (online or land) you are playing against other people. Your odds in texas holdem vary with the skill level at every different table you play at and most importantly, how well YOU play. The ONLY game in any casino land or online that your winning odds can be above 100% every single time you play is a skill game like texas holdem. But you have to play good, and know what you are doing. Slots and video poker and every other game in any casino will always have odds in favor of the casino, because that is why they are in business. If you play 10 million hands at any game other than a poker game like texas holdem where you are playing against people, not the casino... you will always lose.

TDTAT, Great thanx for the info.
At the moment i have invested so much time and stuydying on texas hold em ,that too leave it know woud be unprofitable .
I am not saying i have won i am at a loss but the loss has given me gains in play. its one amazing game.

The DIFFERENCE I find playing casino slots or video poker is that if i loose 100 on the slots you say oh well better luck next time

BUT if you loose 100 at texas hod em ,its like a crime.YOU KICK YOURSELF .iff you put youre loss on a forum jees you get beratted ,
Thers more tools in holdem than even a banker would use ,
THE ONLY PROBLEMB I HAVE IS THAT SPEND A LOT,TRYING TOO MAKE A FLUSH A high iff i win good ,but bad odds ,I also battle trying too work out the outs ,and end up betting my two paire into 3 off a kind .

hong kong, Well keep in mind I have spent the better part of a decade learning the game. It is a lifetime chore. You need to learn abut pot odds and start playing with that in mind. Do not chase flushes unless the math is right to do so.
