Just a single match could Energie Cottbus win since Rudi Bommer has become their new coach at the beginning of the year. Also Bommer wasn't able yet to motivate this often inactive and insecure team. At least the relegation positions are still seven points away. The defense made progress under Bommer, but up front only 24 goals were scored in 25 matches. Dimitar Rangelov is the only real striker available at the moment. Apart of Eintracht Frankfurt (3:3) Cottbus lost all matches at home against top teams (1860 Munich 0:5, St. Pauli 1:4, Gr. Fürth 0:2, Paderborn 0:2).
After a miserable start to the new year Fortuna Düsseldorf have won the last two matches with 8:1 goals and still have decent chances to promote. But on Monday three important players will have to be replaced. Striker R?sler (12 goals), midfielder Bodzek and full-back Langeneke are all suspended. There is wide quality in the squad, but the 'new ' team may need some time to find. Fortuna lost just two matches all season, drew seven times away from home (5-7-1).
