thekidebomb, I really liked reading your post and find many things in common with you. If you can not quit gambling in total, one thing you can do is to ask a casino (a good one) to limit your weekly deposits.
Another thing that definately works if you want to quit totally is anti-gambling software. I have a good friend who uses "GAME BLOCK" and it is serious. He can not even read an email from a casino or his computer will shut down in 15 seconds. If you install that on all your computers, you are finished with gambling.... even sites like noluckneeded are blocked. Additionally you can self ban yourself at land casinos.
I have learned after many years of gambling to cashout or leave when I win. I will "go off like a rocket" sometimes and loose several hundred, but it is not nearly as bad as I was years ago when I would go to vegas with too many hundreds to fold and leave with nothing. I finally learned I get the same pleasure from betting 50 cents a spin as betting $2.50... so I set my limits and usally follow them. If I don't feel like loosing I just go play low limit poker and it is almost a sure win for me.
As far as land casinos go... I still do not trust myself at them, so I will take the money I am willing to loose and leave the debit cards at home. I even quit gambling for about 2 years. I know now that I love to gamble and will likely do it all my life, but I now look at it as entertainment and have learned to control myself.

I had gamblock on my computer and figured out how to get around it lol, but I was a drug addict more, I dont spend money at casinos or lottery tickets anymore or any form of gambling. Life to me from the age of 15-22ish was a gamble, I don't go out and party. Basically I had a Job and got screwed out of a couple thousand, so I went into business with someone and thaught everything was fine, come to find out one day all are inventory was stolen, and he spent all the money himself. I found this out at once, not gradually, I proceeded to get high that month and gamble ( I actually bought 2 lottery tickets that day and won 250 and 50 on em lol) but I went to detox and have been clean since and had 18 months clean before that. Im usually a workahollic, up untill this week Ive been at my parents house lying around all day doing nothing. I felt violated, I gambled with not only my money but others with this business I helped start and its a feeling I can't explain. First Commuting 6 1/2 hours a day bringing in over a million dollars in business 2 weeks before i quit because I got screwed over on getting paid. Then to raise this money, work 100+ hours a week all to have it pulled out from under me. That was the worst gamble of my life. Its funny tho, from someone who used to be the king of conning and robbing people to get a fix or to gamble I get conned by my business partner and robbed by someone I made a manager at my company when he was about to get evicted. Its been 6 months and this week I finally started sending out resumes and getting back on my feet. Its hard for me to trust employers anymore, I've been screwed more than once. But there's something everyone should know or realize and that is your entire life is a gamble. Whether its your job, your friends, your spouse, whether you have kids, etc... There's many more examples but asking for tips on gambling is no different than asking about tips on life. Its simple if you want a good life, work hard, don't do drugs, don't hang out with people who put you in compromised situations, obey the law, and most of all enjoy life. Its short, I'm 24 years old, Ive seen and done more than most people 2-3x my age (which im not proud of). But lets compare this to gambling, play at casinos or places you trust, make sure gambling doesn't interfere with your everyday life, don't break the law or cheat, don't hang out with someone who spends more time in casinos in life or online than not, and most importantly, if your not enjoying it, then stop gambling. I hurt my back when I was 17 working out, the doctors put me on painkillers (Vicodin), I was taking em when I wasn't in pain and what it led to was a 6 year on and off addiction of opiate painkillers and heroin. The point im making is if your just blowing money for the sake of blowing money and not happy doing it then stop. If you can't stop, get help. I used to deposit a ton of money on online poker, till that was banned by the DOJ. I have spent under $100 in 6 months since Ive played online casinos, its been 7-8 since i've spent money on a lottery ticket, and 2 years since ive been in a casino. If I came on here and wrote (no offense to anyone who did) but quit if you win big, or don't spend more than you can afford, that's common sense not so much a tip, if i said stick with a machine or don't stick with a machine like I did before that's not a tip, that's a superstition, and if I wrote ask your local mafia where the fix is in, well that could land you in jail. Gambling is a tough thing, not to sound like an old GA member lol but we have grandiose dreams of getting rich, but how many gamblers do you know that are rich from slots or video poker? You don't have to respond, but how many of you have been down so much you feel like loosing money on purpose to punish yourself? Well I have, and I'm not rich, but at the same time I don't spend money gambling other than 30$ or so every 3 months(which is huge because Ive spent 30$ on 1 lottery ticket on numerous occasions). The real tip if you ask me, is being satisfied with who you are and what you have. I gambled and used drugs heavily for years because I thought short term, and needed instant gratification, and I didn't relapse because I liked getting high, it was from depression and anxiety and other issues I'm sure I was dealing with at the time. I know this seems like a rant and its probably to long for anyone to read but I'm writing all this so people don't make the same mistakes I did, and hopefully start the next phase of my life a winner at something, but even if I don't win, If someone reads this and gets something out of it, then it was worth putting my personal details and spending the time to type this out, and more important than winning $50 all day every day to me.
*** What I wrote doesn't apply to everyone, if it doesn't please don't trash it, but if it does hit home feel free to message me. I hit rock bottom dug deeper hit a new bottom then the bottom fell out from underneath me from many different reasons in my life, but I climbed slowly up that hole and stare down it, and even though I'm not where I want to be yet, (Im in training to take my series 63 and applying to stock broker firms to take the series 7 to be able to be a stockbroker, Ive sold commodities and made people a lot of money and enjoy financials) I will be soon and I can be proud of what I did to get to where I am today, and look forward tomorrow to taking another step forward in the this gamble we call life

I always make sure I stop at gas station to fuel back up and put "get back home in case you bust this weekend" cash away in the truck of car before I allow myself to step on casino property. That is so i will never have a "I lost my tail, had to drive home on fumes, 4 people had to split a happy meal kind of BROKE" trip again!!!!

If you win big at any game, cash out and play something else, or take a break and go back in. Don't keep playing thinking it will hit again.
If at a Live Casino land casino. Cash Out get off the machine and go get a snack or take a break cash you money and go to something else for a while.
Then go back, If I stay and think I'm going to win again I didn't and I wound up with usually no money... Wishing I had stopped, cashed out and took a break and then went back.
I Hope This Helps Someone This is Something I can prove....
When I went back later, I always won big again....

Here's where I fall down and can't get back up again. When I win a nice amount, I'll go to the Cashier to cash out. Then I'll start thinking about how lucky I was and how good the game was and get greedy. Back to the Cashier, cancel out the Withdrawal Request, return to the games and try to jack the balance up by making even higher bets. Next thing you know I get desperate, playing 5x higher (or more) than usual, oooops there it went, no money honey.
DO NOT GET GREEDY!
Leave the Withdrawal Request where it is and make another deposit. If you cancel the Withdrawal, most of the time you will end up losing the whole thing.

Don't go to a casino "looking to score big". It seems that when you do - you don't! Go intending to have fun and maybe lose a little. Hopefully then you will win!
