HAPPY FATHERS DAY all you guys out there

I'm a stepfather of one girl and a grandpa of 3.
My stepfather passed away 3 years ago and my dad passed away 2 years ago, they are missed.

Happy Fathers Day!!

I just want to wish MY DAD (kthunker) the Best Father's Day of all!! You are a fantastic father and I'm honored to be your daughter!!

You are the world's greatest grandfather and play such an important part of my children's lives as such!!! You are a tremendous male role model for them and are always there when they want to play catch, read a book, build something or just sit on Grandpa's lap!!

Thanks for all you do for us and thanks for being there thru the good and bad times!

We LOVE you!!!

A Tribute to my father who died in 2001!!

DADDY'S EMPTY CHAIR

A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with
her
father.

When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head
propped up on two pillows.

An empty chair sat beside his bed.

The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his
visit.

I guess you were expecting me, he said.

'No, who are you?' said the father.

The minister told him his name and then remarked, 'I saw the empty
chair and I figured you knew I was going to show up,'

'Oh yeah, the chair,' said the bedridden man.

'Would you mind closing the door?'

Puzzled, the minister shut the door.

'I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter,' said the man.

'But all of my life I have never known how to pray.

At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer,

but it went right over my head.' I abandoned any attempt at prayer,'

the old man continued, 'until one day four years ago, my best friend
said to me,

'Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with
Jesus.

Here is what I suggest.'

'Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in
faith see Jesus on the chair.

It's not spooky because he promised,

'I will be with you always'.

'Then just speak to him in the same way you're doing with me right
now.'

'So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of
hours every day.

I'm careful though if my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair,
she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny
farm.'

The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man
to continue on the journey.

Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the
church.

Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her
daddy had died that afternoon.

Did he die in peace?' he asked.

Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his
bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek.

When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead.

But there was something strange about his death.

Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head
on the chair beside the bed.

What do you make of that?'

The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said,

'I wish we could all go like that.'

Thanks Nette & TDTAT!!

I sat with my dad during his last few days, it was extremely difficult but somehow I got through them.

As I sat there through his last night, he kept mumbling the same thing over and over and over! It drove me crazy trying to figure what it was that he was saying. Then all of a sudden I realized that he was praying the rosary!! I started praying with him in the early hours of the morning and shortly there after he relaxed and it was over! All he wanted was to finish his rosary before he went.

I now look back and get such a calming feeling thinking about our last moments together, it was beautiful!!

The little girl was sitting in her grandfather's lap as he read her a story. From time to time, she would take her eye's off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. By and by she was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again.

Finally she spoke, "Granddaddy, did God make you?"
"Yes, sweetheart" he answered, "God made me a long time ago."
"Oh she said," then "Granddaddy, did God make me too?"
"Yes, indeed honey" he assured her. "God made you just a little while ago."
"Oh" she said. Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it now isn't he?"

The Toy Goes To . . . .

Tom had won a toy at a raffle. He called his kids together to ask which one should have the present.

"Who is the most obedient?" he asked.

"Who never talks back to mother? Who does everything she says?"

Five small voices answered in unison. "Okay, dad, you get the toy."
