Blackjack, Twentyone, Hit, Stand, Split, Surrender, Insurance, a chute? Are you confused yet ? Blackjack is a very popular casino game.
At a online casino or at a land base casino. At both the object is to get 21or close to 21 without busting and beat the dealer hand. The ideal hand is a ace and a face card. That is a blackjack and it will pay 3 to 2 on your bet. Unless the dealer also has blackjack. In that case it would be a push. Let's break this down for all the beginner's .
Whether your at a land base casino or a online casino the table is set up pretty much the same. The dealer is at the back, with the card chute either on the left or right side of the dealer. The player to the far right is first base. The player on the far left is anchor, trashman, or cleanup man.
1. Chute- A chute holds the cards most casino's either online or land base has anywhere of 4, 6 or 8 decks of cards in a chute.
2. Cards- Cards 2 through 10 are worth their face value Kings, Queens and Jacks are worth 10. A ace is worth one or eleven.
3. Bet- A player will place their bet before the cards are dealt, Player's card are dealt faceup. The dealer cards are dealt one up one down.
4. Hit- If you take a hit you are trying to get 21 or close to 21. A hand higher than the dealer, without busting. You can take more than 1 hit.
5. Stand- If you stand you are happy with the two card you got dealt. You will get no more cards.
6. Double Down- That means you only want 1 more card. You must match your original bet to double down. One card is all you get no matter the face value.
7. Split- You may split any two card's that are the same. Like two 9s , You must match your original bet on both hands of the split. You Play the split out
like two separate hands. You can win both, lose both, win one, lose one etc;
8. Insurance- If the dealers card that is facing up is a ace you can take insurance. Insurance may be taken for half of the original bet and it pays 2 to 1.You
are betting that the dealer has blackjack.
9. Surrender- If allowed by casino There is a early surrender where if the dealer has a ace showing and before the dealer checks for blackjack if allowed by
house . The player can do a early surrender and only lose half the original bet. More often found than a early surrender is a late surrender. But
not common. A late surrender a player gives up half the original bet after the dealer checks for blackjack.
Here is a chart to use to help you decide what to do hit, stand, split or double down. This is only a guide the decision is yours.
If you have: And dealer shows Do this:
8 and under Always hit, regardless of the dealer's up-card
9 3, 4, 5, or 6 Double down
9 2 or 7 and above Hit
10 2 through 9 Double down
10 or Ace Hit
11 2 through 10 Double down
11 Ace Hit
12 2, 3, or 7 and above Hit
12 4 through 6 Stand
13 through 16 7 and above Hit
13 through 16 2 through 6 Stand
17 through 21 Always stand, regardless of the dealer's up-card
