MLB Odds: New and Improved Dodgers Head to Atlanta to Battle the Braves by Chris Watford
July 27th @ 7:35 - July 28th @ 7:10 - July 29th @ 1:35
The Los Angeles Dodgers (56-46, minus-17.48 betting units) were able to beef up their team just in time to visit the Atlanta Braves (54-44, plus-12.54 units) this Sunday at 1:35 PM ET on TBS. With the July 31st non-waiver deadline approaching next week, the Dodgers made a trade acquiring All-Star SS Manny Machado from the Baltimore Orioles for a handful of prospects. The Dodgers are ranked sixth in the league with a .785 OPS and after acquiring Machado (.947 OPS) they may be able to jump a spot in the rankings.
As of press time neither team has announced their projected starters for Sunday’s game, but Ross Stripling (2.43 ERA) is expected to throw for LA opposite of Julio Teheran (4.42 ERA). In only his third year in the league Stripling was a surprise All-Star this year. Stripling has been able to show that he is something special with an improving curveball, 3.00 units earning and a team record of 10-5. Former All-Star Teheran is a different story. Despite having a profit of 2.54 units, Teheran has a team record of 11-9 alongside having the worst season of his eight-year career.
